Regular earphones did fit into my iphone 5 just fine, so I am not sure
what is happening here.

A normal headphone jack such as the type that fits into devices such as MP3
players, the Victor Reader Stream or the BookSense devices will fit the iPhone
5, but some of the cases for iPhones will not allow them to be pushed in f
t the plug be pushed in far enough.

Normally you just plug them in assuming the jack of your headphones is a 3.5MM
jack.
If the jack is larger then you’ll have to buy an adapter which can be purchased
at your local electronics store.
Connecting a standard set of headphones means that you’ll have to answer a call
