Hello, just a bit more clarification. The recorder under discussion
takes micro-SD cards, which are different from mini-SD cards. The micro SD
cards used in the new Olympus DM4 and the new Zoom H1 are the smaller of the
two types. So the micro sd is the smallest, the mini sd is a bit bigg

Hello List Members,
They are about 1 inch by 1 inch square.
The many SD card is basically a square shaped card.
You can get them from 1 GB to about 32 GB so I'm told.

Not necessarily. The h2 & h4 have quite noisy preamps and they're more
expensive than this unit.

Here's the Amazon link, quite a long one. The price, surprisingly, is
just $99!

That shouldn't be an issue if the unit lives up to its claims as meeting

Well I odn't don't think the Olympus has a line in to start with and last time
I played with one it had a little background noise so that's the difference but
again, not knocking the Olympus at all! it does a grand job for what it was
designed to do.

Not sure how blind friendly this unit will be! As there is no on screen
menue there isn't a need for talking functions. If one is to go by the
specks the unit appears to be laid out well with a large recording button in
the front of the unit. The monitoring speaker is definitely a plus. Although
Hmm, but if you're plugging in a microphone of your choice, and both
machines record in .wav file format, would it matter at that point which one
you were using? I would opt for anything that makes professional recordings
like for audience taping at concerts or for making demo recordings,
I don't know how anyone could compare this H1 to the Olympus recorder, I mean
one is meant for voice whilst the other is a professional unit, the H1 being
the professional recorder.

Wow. This sounds even better than the Olympus DM4 which has just come out. I
like the idea of dedicated buttons and no menu structure. Perhaps someone
can do a podcast on this new unit, and then maybe we'd be able to compare
the two machines.
