So, in other words, judging by what you and Steve have described, the basic
idea is a setup that broadcasts whatever comes out of the sound card,
whether it's digital music files, or a screen reader program rreading a text

Well, I don't think that being totally blind has anything to do with
anything. Nor is there any need to move your receiving antenna. The CCrane
is fairly cheap right now. You do have to make one little adjustment to
boost its transmitting power, but that wouldn't stop me from recommending
it
