Chris, I had exactly the same problem. For some reason, it didn't start working until I installed Itunes. Once Itunes saw the shuffle, I was able to close Itunes and AnnaPod Explorer was able to connect to the Shuffle. Not sure why this is, but this is what worked for me. --Best regards, -
