why not just download winamp and let it play your mp3, wav, and many other
(selectable by you) kinds of sound files?

If you want media player to run your mp3's then the easiest thing to do
is just reinstall wmp.

to play and wont play. Even one I converted from wav has it listed in the
find dialog box as a mediajukebox.file type.
