I'd certainly upgrade to 8.1 if you're serious about recording and you already have Total Recorder Pro, I don't think v6 had Time Shifting or cue editing for example, cue editing is an extremely powerful tool which brings Total Recorder into the world of very nice little pieces of audio editing
