You are wrong, I've closed and saved loads of files, then opened them and by
moving to the record button, have added to them often and resaved no
problems.
there is a setting, I cannot remember where, which is a checkbox and says
append to file, mine is checked.

Hi, Once you've saved the file, there is no way to append it.
You can only append a file that is notclosed.
