Hi Joe,
You can get a card reader from Radio Shack for ten dollars or so. I have a
first generation stream and never use the USB port to connect it. It is so
much faster to transfer files using a card reader.
This would be a very inexpensive way to fix your problem.

By the way Joe,

These are called ID3 tags. One place where you can read
sent to the player.
I thought if I named the main folder as the artist, the subfolder as the album,
and the files by the song name, that was all I had to do. Apparently metadata
is something different.
Thanks for any information,

If you could record it in to mp3 format, you could use a sound editing
program to lower the sample rate, which would lower the speed of the
recording. Just a thought.

As I said in an earlier post, that's not always the kase.
If you ask me, this is an oversight on their part.
Because not all the machines have the Bookshelf firmware on them, mine
didn't.

Hi Tom,
If the player is actually on, but the play button hasn't been pressed, there
may be a problem with the unit if it doesn't shut off after 30 minutes when
it is on battery power.
I really have to watch it though, because since the book starts if a
cartridge is in and the on button is p
