Is there a way to change file formats with Goldwave?

Hi, A friend emailed some attachments of music in the m4a format. I would like to change these formats to mp3 format so I can copy and play them on my Stream. When I import these files into Goldwave I get an error message which basically says that Goldwave can't figure out the format except
