Look through the menus, you have something running which takes focus
away, can't say what it is, but it is though, I've often seen it.

Ok, I've answered my own question, Gold wave seems to handle this just
fine . Now another question, in a MPG video file, what
compression is used for the audio or is that totally dependent on the
video recorder you're using.
