I believe both emails refer to OTRS 2.4.7, more or less, but not OTRS 3.0
Maybe they've fixed it in the new release?

nope, we are still downloading 15 mails every 10 mins.
we are planning to upgrade from 2.4.6 to 3.0.6 in the hope that this may
get resolved.
if not, we will possibly ditch otrs in favor of "request tracker"
any other suggestions?
