I've tested QEMU 2.9 on some internal tests as well and saw no issues.
I think moving OVS to 2.7 is a good idea. 2.8.0 is still too new.
DPDK 17.05 should work fine. I've used it inside guests for some time now
without issues. I haven't checked it against OVS 2.7 though.
