I think that maintainers of openwrt/openwrt repo are more active on the
mailing list but openwrt/packages maintainers prefer GitHub. But that is
just my personal feeling.

if you send these patches directly to
https://github.com/openwrt/packages/ they will receive more attention
than here in mailing list.

I'm trying to add ninja and meson to packages feed. The reason for that
is described here https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/1871 and
https://github.com/openwrt/packages/issues/8315 .
If you want to look at that, my test repo is here
