Hi,
I have a server & a laptop I'd like to use to make a cluster with OpenStack,
so I can run a Windows 7 VM on either one. So that when I'm home I can run
the VM on the fast server & rdp to it from another desktop at the house. And
so when I'm out I can migrate it to the laptop & rdp to it loc

Thanks for your reply.
Your reply implies that its possible to ensure that the disks stay on the
right target manually. What would you have to do to make sure this happened?
The SAS space is 228GB & the SSD space is only 64GB.

Hi,
Please forgive me if I've asked already here on the list- I didn't get a
reply & I really need an answer, so I'm asking again in simpler terms this
time.
If I have a cluster of servers, each with spindle drives & SSDs, how can I
be sure VM disks which reside on spindle drives migrate to
Hi,
I have plans to rent dedicated servers running on full server sized VMs
running on OpenStack, and the servers all will feature 2-tier storage
schemes, so that the customers can have both a 10k rpm SAS drive based disk
& another SSD based disk on their dedicated server.
Each server will
I'll just use full server sized VMs made of KVM & disclose in my product
detail page that the dedicated servers are comprised of this design to
mitigate the attack vector we're speaking of.

Hi,
I'm working on a startup that aims to rent dedicated servers to tech
startups, and I would like to use OpenStack to manage the servers I rent
out.
I saw on the OpenStack Foundation YouTube channel there was a video there
about using OpenStack to manage bare metal, but the presenter in t
I haven't received messages from the mailing list for 2 days, I can't

Hi,
If I rent a VPS with 32GB RAM on a server that only has 32GB RAM in total,
could OpenStack be choked for memory if the VPS tries to use up all that
RAM, or will OpenStack be weighted to take priority over the memory the
server has available?
Should I only allocate 30GB to the VPS & leav
Hi,
What's the smallest disk space I can allocate for the root partition of my
OpenStack installation?
I'm using a RAID10 of 8x 64GB SSDs, and have very limited disk space because
I'll be using 2/3's of the cinder-volumes allocation for LVM snapshots.
So I'd like to allocate as little a
Hi,
I'm working on starting a VPS provider utilizing OpenStack as the backend,
and will be using KVM as the Hypervisor.
I'm interested in finding data to feature on my website showing that KVM is
the right choice in that it features near-native performance compared to
bare metal.

Hi,
I'm interested in learning more about how to implement a customer portal for
an OpenStack installation, and would like to know specifically about how the
customer portal is safe from would-be hackers when exposed in the wild. I
don't know if there are any additional measures I would have to
Hi,
I don't think this would be possible, but I figured I'd ask in case there's
a way I just don't know about.
I'd like to have my Windows 7 VM have 4 GB of memory when it resides in one
node that has limited memory, and have 16 GB of memory when it migrates to
another node that has more m
How about 'Chain', or a variant thereof- a play on the word 'link', which is
what a network consists of: links.

I just discovered ScaleMP, with their ability to consolidate CPU cores &
memory from across the network to create large VMs out of disparate server
nodes & was wondering if there was anyone working on something similar with
OpenStack. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Google doesn't say much on the
Hi,
I have questions regarding this part of the Grizzly install guide that's up
on github:
. Finally, don't forget to create a volumegroup and name it

Does the nested KVM running inside the OpenStack that runs inside
another OpenStack get to take advantage of the VT-x of the host CPU?
2. Does OpenStack on OpenStack running KVM in each need VT-x on the
host CPU at all to run properly?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
My experience with virtualization has been limited to the ProxmoxVE
platform, and with it I'm quite adept after working with it for a few years,
however I'm looking forward to migrating to OpenStack & would like to find a
way to learn as much about it as I can, in as efficient a manner as

Hi,
I'm new here- been lurking for awhile, this is my first message to the list.
I have just recently started tinkering with OpenStack after discovering it
recently. I started with virtualization using ProxmoxVE for Windows desktop
hosting back in 2009-2010.
I'm interested in launching a s
