Hi Matthew,
Thanks a lot for your info. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything wrong
in these files. I guess maybe the issue is related to dev link
"/dev/usb/mass-storage0" which is not found somehow when searching in
device information library in some cases.
It is hard to debug the issue since

Hi all,
FYI there are two Python IPC extension modules available that you might find
useful. They're both less fancy than the multiprocessing module because they
expose lower level primitives.
There's a module for POSIX IPC:

And another for SysV IPC:

Hi Scott, a way you can monitor SSH brute force attacks on valid user accounts
is to do something like this:
Step 1: become root / super user
$ su - root
Step 2: edit the /etc/default/login file with your favorite editor and make
sure that SYSLOG=YES is uncommented.
# vi /etc/default/
A little more: Out of curiosity, I tried setting "dobiosdev=0" as follows:
Edit the grub line for the kernel to add -kdsv (to the failsafe line).
In kmdb, "dobiosdev/W0". With that, it gets to single-user mode.
So I think this does point at the BIOS-call stuff being broken.
I see (from google) th

I may have miss read the situation..this site also benchmarked OpenSuSE,
Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva together. Should you not compare like with like and
compare OS with say Apple a similar system?

I spent a little while rebooting with kmdb and setting breakpoints,
and have narrowed down the failure to this call stack:
main -> startup -> startup_bios_disk -> drive_present
The call to drive_present never returns.
(I guess it's "off in the weeds".)
The drive_present code calls the BIOS, so I

Sun developed similar technology years ago, but it never got deployed,
since it required hand crafted kernel bits for each deployment to ensure
you got bits that were compatibl

Its a known problem that should be fixed "soon" and has to do with the new
boomer audio subsystem in solaris (when that package was put together, boomer
did not exist).

Hi,
I have a corrupt pool, which lives on a .vdi file of a VirtualBox. IIRC
the corruption (i.e. pool being not importable) was caused when I killed
virtual box, because it was hung.
This pool consists of a single vdev and I would really like to get

No, this is a separate test, although same hardware. I just put the content
into an attached chart.
I just realized I should have posted this to performance board.
