On OpenSolaris 2008.05 and later, software is managed using the pkg command.
There is also a GUI on the "System" menu under "Administration".
Updates for OpenSolaris *are* available - to update all packages to newer
versions use the command "pkg image-update". See
http://opensolaris.org/os/proj
Try it out with VirtualBox? That's my newbie opinion :)

just wanted to ask, what is the current state of support?
I don't use, nor have a Mac myself, but I have a friend, who's considering to
try the latest Solaris bits. He is a developer, and used Solaris sometime in
the past. It's just that I could not help him outline what works out of the

OpenSolaris 2008.05 isn't supported either.
You need to use a recentish SXCE to build ON.

I have to do this manually on each boot for my graphical-login screen to appear.
Any ideas as to what is supposed to create this directory?
