Most likely this is because the nv-sata driver dont support ATAPI devices
yet.
S10 uses the SATA channel and the ATAPI drive in IDE emulation mode.
Thats why it works.

I just tried to install SXCE Build snv_84 on a new Dell PE T105, having an
nvidia chipset for sata and a sata dvd drive. Installation stops saying that
the dvd was not fount (I tried the dvd on a different system, worked there
nicely).
