As Alan mentioned, a number of folks have been looking into "ae". One
issue that several folks identified (at least on the Indiana prototype)
is that "ae" seemed to lock up on bulk transfers while the "pcn" driver
did not:

Ah, thanks Mike. I make mistakes all too often so I understand. I just
wanted to make sure it wasn't done on purpose. ;)

My point was why go through the effort to include the web stack (AMP)
and not bother to make sure they're compatible with each other?
I can very easily use mysqli in anything I write but what if a user

You (or anyone not tainted with knowledge of the closed
implementation) can write or port an open one. That'd be a heck of a
good contribution, I think.

If I continue to use samba until some of these differences/evolution are ironed
out.
1. What added overhead if any, is there to the new zfs code with sharesmb?
2. Are there any switches or settings to completely disable the sharesmb
additions?
thanks

Most engineers ignore the cess-pool of flame wars and confusion
that is opensolaris-discuss - if you want a driver engineer to
pay attention

I have been running various Linux Distros, Apple OS X and Windows Vista. Tried
to get a few versions of opensolaris running on a few machines and couple of
different drives, but to no avail. Even the little BeLenux disk didn't work.
But finally, I got the Indiana pre-release Live CD to work.

Unless you're really "jiggy" and "down" with the UltraSPARC processor, and know
how to squeeze that extra performance out of an UltraSPARC based CPU, nothing
really.
