I have tried to google this but only find the different meaning for KVM :-)
Due to the large number of machines at my desk I have only one keyboard, mouse
and screen and the machines connect via a KVM switch (ATEN Petite CS-64U KVM /
audio / USB switch - 4 ports - USB).

Thanks Dave and Gary for the input. Once I understood where the system
messages were going I was able to figure out that I had an issue with
the permissions on the named.conf file I was using. I changed two
things:
1. chown root:sys /etc/named.conf (It was root:root)
2. chmod 755 /etc/named.conf

Those patches aren't yet in OI/IL mainline, as of when I looked today.
Regarding when they'll be usable, either in mainline or by fetching
them yourself...
