I haven't yet installed newest closed source Virtualbox on OpenIndiana yet,
but ever since 13x /dev Opensolaris releases, Virtualbox IPS package in
Sun/Oracle repository stopped refreshing(or it stopped insta
Hi Thorsten,
I found that I experienced a similar kernel panic when attempting to
perform a clean install of OpenIndiana which would occur at around 2% of
the installation on a consistent basis.
I eventually worked out that I had to use GParted to delete any
partitions on the boot disc prio

Have you sorted out editing the package to get USB support in the VBox?
I understand the problem is that the installation looks for the string
"snv" to identify the Opensolaris build to see if it is new enough to
give USB support in the VBox; "snv" has been replaced by "oi" so the

Hi All,
I've got a fun task for someone who is looking to contribute to the project.
It would be really useful to compare packages and versions between:
OpenIndiana oi_147
CentOS/RHEL 5.5 and 6
Debian 5
Ubuntu 10
FreeBSD
Doing this in a spreadsheet might be the easiest method. The "primary key"

No - not yet. We could certainly do with one. A section of the Handbook might
be a worthwhile location for such info.

Hello folks,
I've done CentOS 5.5, save for:
- most libraries (their versions are dependent on the versions of the installed
apps in many cases)
- language modules, etc.
- variants (no-x11, etc.)
- things that I recognise to be tied to Linux (and would never be built/useful
on OI)
I did the up
