A cursory net search found several SCSI DVD drives for $35 to $70 (external).
Another option would be to track down an IDE to SCSI converter. I found one on
the back of a CD drive in an old PC I inherited.

Windows and Mac OS both have POSIX, though one could argue as to how useful
Windows’s is. OS X is actually UNIX certified.
