It was actually short for "DownLoad Centre", which used to be up at,

Hmm, and it looks like google loves our dlc server too much again.
I can drop that one out at least so we get less old results. Oracle is
not ideal either but at least it's not the dlc server anymore as first
result.
Let's see if google honors that.

I got to those pages by going to google and searching for "openindiana
roles and permissions". The first three links are to
dlc.openindiana.org, then the fourth to Oracle, dlc, Oracle, etc.
docs.openindiana.org is the first hit on page 2, followed by a bunch of
other non-docs.o
