I'd like to have more kernel threads than the default settings will allow.
(default is about 37k on x86) The kernel parameter to tune is
called "segkpsize", which is the number of pages the kernel reserves
in it's memory arena for kernel thread stacks.
I've changed this parameter on Sol
as I put it in the attachment:
pkg set-publisher -P -O http://pkg.openindiana.org/dev-il/ openindiana.org
this will replace the openindiana.org publisher with the dev-il one.

Thanks for this but, no... the crash is almost immediate. I don't even
get that far and the errors are flashed so fast and it reboots so quick

I have subject notebook and would really like to try out openindiana but
there appears to be problems loading the live cd. The thing crashes
almost immediately. The result of lspci running RHEL6 64 bit is as follows:
