This discussion made me look at one of my old pictures, taken in Urbana,
Illinois, which I considered to be a common redpoll.
Is there a chance that it is Hoary?

Around 7:10 pm tonight a woodcock landed in the yard of MoMA and immediately
disappeared in the fern bed. Could not photograph it and did not want to
disturb it.
Probably will spend the night there.
