Nancy O'Keefe and I (John Laver), drove the Jones Beach West End loop on
Sunday morning. We'd read somewhere a dearth of Brown Thrashers for the
region. Well, we saw six from the car without really trying. Don't know
if that's a lot or not.

Watching the brouhaha over inconsiderate photographers with interest.
Mostly, this is about owls, snowies in particular. I'm thinking there are
two categories of problem people, those who willfully and consciously
disturb and harass owls for the better shot, and those who lack the field
craft to
ivilized acts.

I thought I saw the rear end of a fox fleeing from my approach, as I hiked
out to observe the Red Phalarope last Sunday - bu
It may have stowed away on an airplane and arrived via JFK. Or, more
likely, it might have been smuggled in through JFK and somehow escaped.
If/when captured, forensics might be able to determine its recent history
via anything living on or in it.
