The Northern Wheatear found by P. Rand and with assist by B. Bolduc, at Orient,
Suffolk Co. NY on Sunday Oct. 6th meant that some with a lot of added luck
could go for a Black-throated Gray Warbler as well, although that latter
warbler was not reported again from the prior area as of early Monda
The N. Wheatear continues at Truman’s Beach. It is feeding and occasionally
perching on one of two large wood piles east of the parking lot.

The Stone Bridge Nighthawk Watch in Setauket wrapped up its 8th year on
Sunday in a dismal manner, with no nighthawks being recorded. This year
was, by far, the worst with only 669 nighthawks being observed over the 41
days of the watch (August 27 - October 6). We had only one day where we
tallied
