Hi SFP modules will generally have UPC connectors. You therefore need to use cables with UPC at one end and APC at the other end. If you use a APC-APC cable you will have 3-6 dB of optical loss. If it is a short connection and you are out of correct cables, it will usually work. On longer connect

Most SFP/XFP have upc connectors until you get above 5(ish) db of power, then you'll start to see APC and/or E2000 connections. You'll end up using a hybrid jumper (APC one end, UPS on the other). If you're looking for quality jumpers look at Clearfield or Corning. ADC makes tracelite jump
