purchasing decisions.
If the developers have a laundry list of things to fix/add, adding code
to make the commercials more accessible seems like a step backwards in
my opinion.

additional section of keymappings in ~/.mythtv/lircrc (or wherever). If
you already have xine installed, just issue...
$ xine --keymap=lirc
...and you'll have an exhaustive list of mappings straight from xine.
