This is not related with your issue but if you want to
do serious development, don't use Windows 98 in any of
its versions. It is going to give a lot of problems.

I've built a whole program with vb6 and mysql database back end. Never had
any problems. I used the mysql odbc for windows to access the database. What
are you using?
