Error with mysqldump

When my server was running MySQL 4.1 I used mysqldump for backup with no errors - Redhat Linux 9. In fact when the server crashed and I had to restore the whole box I used the backups from mysqldump to restore all the databases and tables including the users. However, the server is now running MySQ
