I believe what you are thinking of is ssmtp. I think you can find it at:
<ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/mail/mta/>, but that might not be

I have fetchmail setup as the following macro, and I mutt never shows me the
macro, but just executes it. The macro is:
macro generic G !fetchmail\r
Maybe you forgot to put the \r at the end of your macro definition?
