have a config file somewhere. I've never heard of
a non-existent ~/.muttrc, but I suppose it's possible.
If you've verified that nothing exists in ~, then check
for a master mutt config file in /etc, and see if
something there is declaring

I have a question which a quick read through the docs and archive
didn't answer:
I want to upgrade from 1.0.1i to the current 1.2.5i. What is the best
approach for this - installing patches in successive order or just
downloading the current tarball and installing it?

On my home machine I finally got my mutt and qmail working
(and messages looking) right by adding the QMAILUSER, QMAILHOST,
and QMAILNAME variables to my ~/.bashrc. (Don't forget to EXPORT
these variables.) These settings will (AFAIK) override any settings in
your ~/.muttrc. Check out more in D
