set folder=imap://host.foo.com/folder_root
Substitute the host and the folder_root with your information and you'll
browse your imap server by default.

I use Mutt with ssl/imap due the mail setup I have. I use the mailbox
command to check mail in different folders, and it works fine. The only
thing that doesn't seem to work, is that I want a 'N' new mail
notification to be next to folders with new mail when I view a folder
