Apache.
The bird was singing high up in deciduous trees (mostly silver maples in
our neighborhood), so easier to watch without making the neighbors nervous.

this individual out on the far wall. It's clearly darker than the Herring

A few updates, now that we're back from the field.
We were never able to relocate the bird after the initial sighting, though
we stuck around for a while hoping for a better view and photos. There's
plenty of habitat there that it could be hanging out in, or it could have
moved on. It was moving g
scope the bay. (Not much to note
there.) We followed it to the burned area Jeff noted, where it was chased
rather aggressively by a starling, and disappeared over the trees to the
south. After scoping the water we returned to where we'd seen the bird
before, but were unable to relocate it.

of months. Quite a milestone! Feels like we should have some sort of
celebration.

the same bird, but we didn't realize it was a
WEKI until later, when we biked by at the end of our loop. It seemed to be
attempting to interact with a couple of Eastern Kingbirds in a
non-aggressive way, but the EAKI were not happy with that and drove it off.

so it's more notable of a sighting than
I had expected at the time. We've seen them on the North Shore before, but
usually far out over the lake, barely identifiable with a scope, so this
up-close view was special.

a view of them for comparison.
