Late July is a tough time to find Sharp-tailed Grouse, LeConte's Sparrow and
Great Gray Owl in Sax-Zim.
All three are residents so possible to stumble across as you drive the roads in
this 300 square mile area but...
Great Grays are rarely seen af

The Marsh, which is about 10 miles south of Owatonna on CR #45, had 5 Trumpeter
swans calling as the flew by this morning.
Also of note was a Kestrel in that same area.
We also counted 10 Bald Eagles on CR #3 this evening at about the same latitude
as The Marsh.

On a short road trip, we thought to check Lake Rebecca and the River Flats
at the Hastings Lock and Dam. Foraging in the farm fields along the way,
were many Canada Geese, some of the smaller ones appearing to be the
Richardson's, and also Trumpeter Swans. The pond at Lake Rebecca was
