I started Mono for android 3 days ago and experienced the same issue.
It was solved by installing mono for iphone+ reboot ... I don't know which
action solved the problem, but one did.

Hi,
Linking with LinkSdkOnly solves the problem!!
It's fine with me, but this means that somewhere you're removing mandatory
classes with LinkEverythink option.
