Any recommendations for an inexpensive Android device to use for testing

You cannot deploy to an actual device without a license. You cannot
use a device for debugging without deploying to it, so that requires a

in MD, I think you have to wait until the emulator spins up, then go back
to the MD "select an emulator" dialog, Refresh, and pick the now active
emulator

No
You have to buy a license to deploy. Without a license you can only
run in the emulator

I've tried it -- Monotouch itself works fine and there was no need to
reactivate when installed over SL, but MonoDevelop has periodic crashes
which are *very* annoying. In particular, it dies each tim

MT and MD rely on their respective native UI layers, so they can't share UI
code. And code for interacting directly with the device APIs are unique to
each platform. However, data access, business logic, etc can be shared.
Craig Dunn (http://conceptdev.blogspot.com/) has written some good posts
Didn't Jon already respond to this question?

You'll probably have better luck discussing this with them privately rather
than complaining about their pricing in a public forum
