You can turn off automatic update checking in Tools->Options->Mono for
Android.
I'll look at fixing the error.

After installing Mono for Android 1.9.1 I am no longer able to launch visual
studio when offline (I get a debug prompt followed by a Watson window). If I
minimize the prompt, I can sometimes continue working for a while, but
cannot build.
The cause seems to be an exception from the mono
