Use -pS, it will use SDL playback. Hardware playback won't work, there's
no fBSD driver (none planned either :) ) for the card needed.

Not recently but I have in the past (the non linux systems are
primarily BSD/OS but I do dabble with FreeBSD on occasion).
There is a big caveat though
