Thank you for your reply. v4lctl from the xawtv package indeed seems
to be the tool I need, although I haven't quite mastered it yet. I
can see the values in "v4lctl list" changed after I issue "v4lctl
bright" or "v4lctl contrast" command, but the video signal captured by
lavrec seems unaffected b
