Network troubles with release/AMD64

Hello list I have trouble upgrading from latest snapshot to -stable :( The system will boot, but network won't start with ": no such interface" message. After loggin from console,when I type ifconfig, I'll get ": no such interface" I thought I commented out some drivers, when building the kernel

Fibre card recomendation

Hello Could someone possible recommend me a good stable (not too expensive) gigabit multimod optical card? I'm planning to switch newtwok backbone cablig from metalic to optic. Router is managing traffic in a student capus local traffic including and is connected to a gigabit Allied Telesyn switch
