i have a problem with mysql connections between a java app server and a
mysql server (both running linux) and an openbsd loadbalancer/firewall
in between. The loadbalancer is using a relayd redirect to switch to a mysql
backup server.
A couple of times per hour we see dropped database connect

is that really the start of the file? If so, you have removed a bunch
of lines, fetch a clean one (tar xzf /path/to/etc49.tgz ./etc/login.conf)
and start again.
