xterm in scrotwm, won't read aliases or TERM from ./profile or other file

I'm using xterm in scrotwm. However, each instance fails to read any aliases or environment stuff like TERM. I have set a file that echos all the needed commands which I then copy paste to get my stuff into that xterm only. This works well, but is there any way at all to automatically do this?
