what was the exact command by which you formatted?
I don't know enough to comment on the possibility of recovering the
entire partition, but I can tell you that it may definitely be
possible to recover some individual files based on their magic
numbers. Google file carving, magic numbers, etc. You can do it
manually with a hex editor -- there also
