I'm not sure about this specific model but...
the Cobalt stuff, in most cases, has a very unusual boot loader (a Linux
kernel that can only boot only certain type binaries IIRC) that would
make it impossible to boot a BSD kernel.
I do recall seeing where someone was able to boot F
