You are quite right with this being a problem with OpenVPN itself. I will
proceed to hassle them ;) A work around for the moment for me is to not use
the "route-up" directive in the server.conf.

Installed OpenBSD 4.6 today.

The box is doing nothing but being a VPN endpoint using OpenVPN.
My VPN works fine but periodically the tunnel blows up with:
