Hi Michael,
I tried this when 10.1 first came out with a daisy chain replication system but
couldn't get it working so upgraded all of my five sites to 10.1
The upgrade proved easy and took less time then I spent trying to get the mixed
version replicator to work.

guess.
Should DBA’s use a GUI ???
That’s up to the individual DBA I guess.
Would a GUI help public uptake of MariaDB ?
They already have.

OS. (not a very
good one allbeit; WIN7) Do you know anyone still running DOS or CPM or even
linux or unix with no GUI as their OS? Maybe a few geeks.??? But I bet they
have a linux based GUI OS on their mobile.
And believe me … I have nothing against geeks, …… I is one.

HI Brian,
Whilst I don't use the entity framework to connect to MariaDB I do use a WCF
web service middle tier with, in production, an older MySQL dot net data
adapter and in test environments I use more recent MariaDB dot net data
adapters.
The only reason I haven't upgraded the older MySQL d
my production
version since 5.3.4 was released and I must add it has never failed.
I’m trying to upgrade to 10.1.xxx to take advantage of the connect engine which
I have tested for several months now and found to be extremely useful.
However I can not put version 10.1.xxx into service until this
information please let me know.
Both versions are running on windows server 2008 R2
Kind Regards,
Bruce Carlson

can't get remote indexing to work but that could be because I
don't have enough knowledge on the subject.
But I'll try what you have suggested and have a look at 10.1.8.

On a completely separate note, Whilst I disagree with you on the subject of

And I feel just as strongly about both subjects.

Hi Bruce,
It's an important aspect you bring up. I'm afraid ho
7;m a dedicated and heavy user and supporter of MariaDB and have been for
decades.
If I am no longer able to download updates etc. without having to create some
sort of GOOGLE account then I will not use MariaDB, I will find an alternative.
Please advise.
old server and all is good.
Once again thanks to everyone. All your advice at least pointed me in the right
direction.
It was a duplicated server ID but not on any of the “in service” machines

MariaDB …. Still the best DB on the planet.
(& so are the people)
Thanks for the tip Jesper, however I just checked all five servers and they all
have unique server ID’s.
Any other suggestions?

It drives around 100 users across the five replicated sites.
