You should read the stuff on the MailMate website about Gmail. To some
extent MailMate could have similar problems to Mail.app with Gmail.
Gmail uses a nonstandard, undocumented fork of IMAP, and any mail client
that deals with it needs to kludge things a bit.
If you don't use labels that much
Mac Mail has this feature.. when you attach a photo you can choose
actual size or a lower resolution.
However since mac mail has problems interfacing with gmail, I switched
to Postbox.
