Robert,
For what it’s worth, on r5875 pressing the option key _after_ I’ve
pulled down the MailMate menu changes the text of the “Check for
Update” item to “Check for Test Build”. (And, interestingly,
changes the text of “Quit MailMate” to “Quit and Close All
Windows”.)

Robert,
Imho both should work ( selecting the menu and pushing option or pushing
option and selecting the menu )
What I find remarkable, is that in your screenshot the “Check for
Update” menu item seems to be missing . . .
Are you using a secret key combination we don’t known about ? ;-)
Robert,
Suspected something amiss like that. Benny features are a bit confusing
but easy to use once learned. That’s why we’re here!

Thank you, Harry. I was confused because I thought you meant hold down
the option key when choosing from the menu, rather than when activating
the menu. Yes, that works fine.

Robert,
For Test Builds hold down OPT Keyboard button when selecting the menu
item, MailMate. R5882 is the latest Test Build I show. What version are
you on? Perhaps it’s so old that these features weren’t incorporated
yet??

Alex, that is holding down the Option or ALT key as you click on the MailMate
menu.
I don’t get a crash with r5882 - BUT in the interim I also did an (unrelated)
OSX upgrade from 14.10.6 to 12.3.1 so of course it might have been the r5881 to
r5882 upgrade or something in OSX that fixed the issu

Or you can download on the test releases on ( allows you also to revert to an

Where do I get the newest beta? The auto-updater within the app won’t update
beyond 5876.

Raza,
Unless you have good reasons to stick with r5876, I would recommend you to move
to the latest beta release r5882
On my system it works as fine.

Just a gentle reminder that if you are experiencing MailMate crashes
(especially with a “beta” release), it would be best to report it
using “Send Feedback…” under MailMate’s Help menu. You’ll get
Benny’s attention much faster, and the
command inserts some useful system information in the messa
Hi,
As the subject says, printing via the top right print icon causes an immediate
crash - though the print job is queued to the spooler and does print.
It is more of an irritation than a huge problem as (other than the one occasion
prior to my deployment of r5876 where Mailmate would only half
