Thank you Henry, the trick is indeed to select the color first. However, the Color command in the Mailbox menu behaves differently from the Color command you access by right-clicking on the mailbox icon. And more than that, testing another mailbox gives me a Color list of commands which is gray

As an alternative to a keyword, you can set the type to "mailbox", in which case there is no keyword; the color is selected based on the contents of the chosen mailbox, which can be a smart mailbox (e.g. in your case one that shows unread messages). This gives the feature incredible flexibilit
